Original Folk
Impressed with the original songwriting that Marc heard in coffee houses around the country, he approached Folkways records in the fall of 1979 with a proposal to do an anthology of American Singer-Songwriters performing their own work. Moses Asch, founder and president of the company liked the idea and gave Marc a contract to record the album. But Folkways was not a capital intensive company and Marc had to raise the money to produce it. It took him 5 years but in 1985 he set out across the country seeking the best material he could come up with.

Contracts had to be drawn up, travel arrangements made, recording sessions booked and occasional laborious negotiations with the songwriters themselves earmarked the adventure. Finally, in early 1986 the album was released, featuring 10 writers performing their original material. It was one of the last recordings that Folkways put out before they were sold to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.

The album was internationally distributed and was reviewed by the San Francisco Guardian. The music ranges from straight out acoustic blues, cabaret, Tex-Mex, all the way to mainstream commercial pop. Marc considers the LP a testament to his peers and to the eclectic talent that continues to inspire him.
